National newspaper, The Daily Star, are claiming that Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion are chasing Pompey’s young defender Sam Magri.
Magri, who has been called up for England under-18s, has seen himself named in the Pompey squad a number of times this season, but is yet to make his first team debut.
The youngster has captained the England U16′s during the Victory Sheild in 2009 and made numerous appearances for the U17′s, before going on trial at Premier League giants Liverpool earlier on in the season.
Now he has caught the attention of West Brom – if reports in the Daily Star are to be believed. Saying that, the last time we read a rumour in the Daily Star, it was linking Danny Ings with a move to Pompey back in March.
Having spoken to Magri this morning, he confirmed that no contact had been made and it was the first he’d heard of it.
The 18-year-old is a promising talent and surely has a part to play in Pompey’s campaign in League One next season – however the reported £400,000 bid from West Brom may be hard to turn down for administrator Trevor Birch.
