A mixture of development squad and trialists were defeated this afternoon at the Raymond McEnhill stadium.
Stuart Sinclair and Chris McPhee scored for the hosts, who were comfortable winners.Young trialist Jack Compton provided a consolation from the penalty spot for Pompey, while Daniel Thompson was denied by substitute keeper Scott in the hosts goal.
Two new faces were on show, current free agent and goalkeeper Jordan Santiago and keeper Jerel Ifil. Previously a Canadian under-21 keeper, Santiago was most recently at Cardiff City but has been training with West Ham since the expiry of his contract at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Ifil is a London born defender who has recently been on trial with Torquay, with the Devon side opting not to sign him. His most successful period came at Swindon between 2004 and 2009 where he played 181 times for the County Ground outfit, scoring 3 goals in the process.
Sam Magri was a stand out performer, as he seeks more first team exposure in the coming season. Jack Compton also confirmed what Michael Appleton has seen in him, with an assured display.
