EXCLUSIVE: Mikkel Andersen post-match interview

We spoke exclusively to Pompey stopper Mikkel Andersen following the defeat to Swindon, a game in which the Danish goalkeeper received Pompey’s Man of the Match after an outstanding individual performance.

Here’s what he had to say…

Disappointing result but a great individual performance, are you pleased with it?

Yeah I think disappointment is the thing that’s on my mind at the moment we want to get out of this spell and we want to get out of this quick. Everyone in the dressing room is looking forward to the weekend now, there’s a bunch of winners in there and they want to win every time so we’ve got to get through it now and do it at the weekend.

There was a new centre-back partnership with Gyepes and Michalik, who provide extra height and experience at the back, how did you find working as part of that?

It worked today and gives us a threat up front, Lubo with a great header. We’ve got a strong team and as a unit we’ve got to work harder when we come to training and I see us progress everytime we play a game and especially today, we put in a great effort, but just a bit disappointing not to get anything from it.

Has your deal at Fratton Park been extended?

Yes, I’m here for another month. I can keep playing games and I’m enjoying every minute of it, I’d like to be here and play at FrattonPark and play in front of the fans and hopefully be involved in something very very good here.

And what do you make of the Pompey fans?

I say to everyone, it’s absolutely amazing. From the first time I walked out, I heard a lot of good things, especially before the Bournemouth game before the start of the season. When I walked out in that game it was mind-blowing. I know crowds as well, I’ve been with Denmark at the European Championships, but Pompey fans are second to none, they’re amazing.
