Pompey defender Adam Webster has been called up to the England under-18s squad.
The 17-year-old has been closely watched by England u18s manager Noel Blake, but Michael Appleton has had to turn the approach away in recent weeks because of how vital Webster has been. Now it is time for Webster to join up with the squad.
The under-18s face Italy on Wednesday night at The One Call Stadium (Mansfield Town FC), where he will join fellow debutants, Everton midfielder Conor Grant, Liverpool starlet Jordan Ibe, Manchester United midfielder Liam Grimshaw and Norwich City attacker Josh Murphy.
Webster tweeted on Sunday morning: “On the way to meet up with the England u18 squad! #nervous“
We wish Adam all the best of luck for his first international call-up!
