Former Pompey defender breaks leg

Our thoughts go out to former Pompey defender, Marc Wilson, who suffered a broken leg on Saturday in Stoke City’s 0-0 draw with Sunderland.

The 25-year-old went in for a challenge with Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher, only to come out with a broken fibula and was stretchered off.

Stoke City manager and former Pompey manager, Tony Pulis told the BBC: “Marc will be out for a while, but we are not sure at this stage for how long.”]

The player himself confirmed on Twitter: “Have broken my fibula. Hopefully I can make a speedy recovery.”

Wilson made 49 appearances for Pompey after coming through the youth system before heading to the Britannia Stadium in a deal that saw Liam Lawrence, Dave Kitson and some money in return for Wilson’s services.
